Door furniture such as latches, locks, bolts and hinges are essential components of many FD30-rated fire doors. The "cutting in" of these components introduces weakness in the door's overall performance unless additional protection is applied. This weakness is due to the premature burn through at the positions of door furniture and has been recognised officially in BS8214:2008 testing.
