This varies depending on the situation your new doors are intended for. If you are replacing your existing doors and keeping the same internal framework then measuring your current doors will be sufficient. If there are to be any changes to the door openings i.e. new frames used or new openings created then the best measurement to work from is the finished wall to wall measurement. Once you have this information you can either contact one of our Door Experts for further guidance or use our online Door Calculator.

 

How do I know what thickness of door I need?
 

The first thing you need to determine is whether or not you require a fire rated door. ½ hour FD30 fire doors are always 44mm thick and 1 hour FD60 fire doors are 54mm thick. For standard doors 35mm and 40mm are the most common thickness and can be fitted in most cases; however some basic carpentry work may need to be undertaken on the existing door stops.

 

All of the doors from our External Bespoke Range are fully guaranteed without a porch.

We recommend that you use 3 x 4” grade 13 fire rated hinges. We supply these in Brass, Chrome and Satin Steel.  

 

You will need to fit a 3” heavy duty latch. These are available in either Brass or Chrome. You can also use a Brass Latch/Lock, Chrome Latch/Lock, Brass Bath Latch/Lock or Chrome Bath Latch/Lock.

 

Veneer thickness depends on the doors, but is typically 1.5mm. Please contact us for more details on your preferred doors.

Doors can be trimmed at the time of fitting to ensure a good fit. Any pre-finished doors that are trimmed MUST be re-treated with the appropriate product. For full information on the trimming and refinishing of doors see our full Terms & Conditions.

We do not have any fitters in our employ; however in both of our Showrooms we have contact information for local door fitters. Should you be unable to visit a store then we would recommend that you consult an online directory such as Yell.com. Please remember that for obvious legal reasons we cannot recommend any 3^rd party company but would suggest that you perhaps visit a local timber yard or builders merchant in order to find details of local door fitters/carpenters.

Should you be able to visit one of our stores then we can accept your order on a deposit basis. We require a 50% deposit to place any orders but ALL goods must be paid for prior to delivery or collection. For web orders payment must be received in full upon dispatch of the goods/ in advance of you receiving the goods.

 

We are specialists in Timber doors. All our External doors are either White Oak or Meranti (a reddish hardwood). The Internal doors  construction and materials vary depending on the type of door.

 

All our wooden veneered doors are made using real timber, we do not sell any foil based veneered doors. A majority of our veneered doors are available in a range of high quality veneers including Oak, Walnut, Cherry and Ash.

We have been successfully selling to the public since 1952. We have showrooms open to both the trade and public in West London  and the South Coast, and now via our online showrooms.

 

In order to maintain the highest quality doors we source them from all over the world, including Spain, Indonesia, Malaysia and China.

 

We accept all major credit and debit cards (excluding American Express) and PayPal.

 

We do not sell any glass independently of the doors, however we can glaze any of our unglazed doors with various types and designs of glass. Please contact one of our Door Experts for more information.
